![]() ![]() ![]() What doesn’t fit about SB? If the character is ranger/rogue-ish, I’d think summoning a magic blade fits quite well. Maybe with mage armor, blur, and a damage type swapped shadowblade with a melee cantrip, he'd be fine to jump into the fray when he's feeling froggy? What do you guys think? On the other hand, is Order of Scribes okay for the occasional gisher? It doesn't have to be his main thing. When playing bladesinger, are there any decent alternatives to Shadow Blade for melee? I don't like the imagery of psychic damage for this character. In case it matters, as far as spell selection, certain spells from the illusion school like blur and minor illusion, and some standard blasting spells are what I'm leaning toward. Although, there's no extra attack on this route, so I don't know how effective this wizard would be in melee as levels go up. Then I had an idea: go order of Scribes, and change out the damage type with slashing or something. However, the only way I ever hear about gishing with bladesinger is to use Shadow Blade, and a blade made of solidified gloom and dealing psychic damage also doesn't fit this character. I do like the idea of gishing from time to time, and I do like all the features, and the features seem useful as well as on brand for this character. The rest of the features are cool though. I'm mean, I know it's good, it just doesn't really fit the vision I have for the character. The quill is cool, and I like the idea of being able to copy spells from a spellbooks super quick. Now, to start with, I was drawn to the Order of Scribes. Skills: acrobatics, arcana, insight, perception I rolled for stats, and after racial modifiers, my ability scores are: My vision for the character is a sort of roving, not afraid to go play in the woods, almost rogue or ranger like wizard (straight classes though,) and maybe some gishing here and there. No spoilers please.) And for race, I've landed on Forest Gnome. I landed on wizard (quite quickly, I started watching the Harry Potter movies for the first time, and I felt inspired. I started making a new character last night, as my DND group is supposed to start meeting up again in August. I come seeking to spitball some ideas about a new wizard character. ![]()
